Mesa man dies in motorcycle crash after escaping police custody

MESA, AZ – A man who escaped police custody was killed when he got into an accident while riding a stolen motorcycle on Sept. 21.

According to 12News, the victim was identified as Anthony Rosales. The accident happened at the intersection of East Broadway Rd and 63rd St. Rosales, riding a stolen motorcycle, ran a red light and was struck by an oncoming car.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle was not impaired.

On Sept. 11, Rosales had been arrested for shoplifting. While the officers’ backs were turned, he escaped.
