Narrative

TUCSON, AZ – A 31-year-old Tucson Police Officer died on Sunday after a two-vehicle collision near The University of Arizona.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of East 6th Street and North Campbell Avenue, which is on the southeast corner of campus.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the officer was headed north on Campbell with his emergency lights activated. A second vehicle failed to yield and struck the officer’s patrol unit in the intersection.

The officer died after transport to a local hospital. Authorities have identified him as Adam Buckner.

The other driver did not require hospitalization .
