Narrative
PHOENIX, AZ –An elderly woman sustained fatal injuries last Thursday in an auto-pedestrian accident in north-central Phoenix.
The collision occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at the intersection of 7th Street and Thunderbird Road near Safeway and North Mountain Park.
Police say that 77-year-old Barbara Greenwell was crossing the roadway outside of a designated pedestrian area when a vehicle hit her. Greenwell died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver involved in the accident did stop to render aid and to speak with authorities.
Officials closed roads in the area of the crash while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
