2 dead, 1 injured in wrong-way crash on Loop 202 in Chandler

CHANDLER, AZ – Two people were killed, and another victim was injured in a wrong-way crash Monday evening on Loop 202 in Chandler, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. on the Loop 202 Santan Freeway, near S Alma School Road, when the driver of a white GMC Yukon, 30-year-old Sarah Walterscheid, entered the highway in the wrong direction. The Yukon then crashed head-on with a black Kia, and then collided with a black Honda.

Walterscheid and Jackie Keeper, the 44-year-old driver of the Kia, were taken to the hospital. There, they both succumbed to their severe injuries and were pronounced dead.

The driver of the Honda sustained minor wounds in the crash.

Traffic was delayed and multiple lanes were closed near the scene for hours after the crash.
