CHANDLER, AZ – Two people were killed when a helicopter and a plane collided mid-flight near Chandler this morning, according to CBS 5 News.
The collision happened near Queen Creek and McQueen, near Chandler Municipal Airport, at around 7:30 a.m. when a fixed-wing plane and a helicopter collided mid-air.
The plane was able to make a landing, but the helicopter burst into flames and crashed.
Two occupants of the helicopter were pronounced dead after the collision. They have not been immediately identified.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been contacted and the accident remains under investigation.
