Narrative

CHANDLER, AZ – When two cars collided, one of those vehicles hit a man and a 9-year-old, leaving the man in critical condition and leading the boy to suffer fatal wounds. This collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. Saturday when, the 9-year-old boy and the man, his father, were waiting to cross the Ray Road and Coronado Street intersection and were struck. Chandler Police confirmed that impairment and speed did not play a role in this fatal wreck. No pending charges will be sought. The boy was identified as Ilai Peterson, and his father, Aaron Peterson. Police shut down the intersection for several hours and declared it officially reopened at 2:30 p.m.
