Texas woman killed in alleged DUI hit-and-run on Loop 202 in Chandler

CHANDLER, AZ – A woman from Texas was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Chandler involving an allegedly drunk driver late Friday night, according to ABC 15 News.

The collision occurred on Loop 202, near Kyrene Road, at about 11:30 p.m., when the driver of an Infiniti passenger vehicle may have been driving over the speed limit. The Infiniti then crashed into the back of a Ford SUV before crashed into the median wall. The impact sent the Ford into an embankment.

The driver of the Ford then fled the scene on foot.

The single occupant of the SUV, 47-year-old Shanna Outie, of Houston, Texas, died at the scene.

Authorities believe the driver to be 28-year-old Jhosua Resendiz-Alvarez, who reportedly has a criminal history of weapons and DUI-related charges. He was taken into police custody at around 9 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities stated he admitted to drinking beers and blacking out before the accident occurred.

He is facing two charges of aggravated DUI and fatal hit-and-run.
