One dead, one injured in late-night wrong-way crash in Gilbert

GILBERT, AZ – A woman was killed and another was injured during a wrong-way crash in Gilbert this weekend, according to KPHO.

The accident happened near Greenfield Road and Pecos Road at about 11 p.m. Saturday night, when the 39-year-old driver of a pickup truck drifted into the left lane, into the pathway of oncoming traffic.

Her truck then collided with a sedan being operated by a 40-year-old woman.

The driver of the sedan died at the scene.

The other driver was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor wounds.

The identities of the victims have not yet been made available.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
