1 dead, 1 injured in early-morning crash in Glendale that sent pickup into canal

GLENDALE, AZ – A woman was killed, and a man was injured during a collision early yesterday morning in Glendale that sent a vehicle into a canal, according to the Glendale Independent.

The accident occurred near the intersection of W Maryland Avenue and N 99th Avenue at 12:51 a.m., when the driver of a dark-colored sedan allegedly ran a red light.

The sedan then crashed into a white pickup truck, causing the pickup to overturn and land in the canal.

The driver of the pickup, 50-year-old Phoenix woman Leauna Christensen, died as a result of the crash.

The other driver sustained undisclosed injuries in the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision at this time.
