29-year-old man killed in Peoria after driver allegedly runs red light

PEORIA, AZ – A 29-year-old man was killed after a driver reportedly ran a red light in Peoria last weekend, according to CBS 5.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Cactus Road and 83rd Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when the driver of a grey sedan ran the red traffic light. The sedan collided with the right side of a blue SUV.

A passenger in the sedan, 29-year-old Robert Garcia, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. There, he succumbed to his wounds and died.

The driver of the sedan was also taken to the hospital with grave injuries. There is no word on their condition at this time.

The other driver was taken to the hospital with non-critical wounds.

Authorities believe that the driver of the sedan may have been speeding and/or under the influence, though an investigation continues at this time. No charges have yet been filed.
