Maricopa Co. DOT worker killed, another injured in hit-and-run crash

GLENDALE, AZ – A worker with the Maricopa County Department of Transportation was killed, and another was seriously injured after they were struck by a vehicle in Glendale this weekend.

According to CBS 5, the accident occurred near the intersection of N 71st Avenue and W Glendale Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, as the two men were removing traffic barricades following an accident.

37-year-old Gustav Danielson and another man were hit by the driver of a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck who then fled the scene.

Danielson was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The second worker sustained critical, life-threatening injuries, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was not immediately identified.
