Woman killed in early-morning pedestrian accident in Glendale

GLENDALE, AZ – A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle as she was crossing the street in Glendale earlier this week, according to CBS 5 News.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Maryland Avenue and 51st Avenue at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, when a woman was struck by the driver of a grey GMC pickup truck.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene of the accident.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash and is reportedly cooperating with the investigation efforts.

Authorities closed a section of 51st Avenue between Maryland Avenue and Montebello Avenue for the investigation efforts, which continue at this time.

It is unknown at this point if the driver was speeding or under the influence when the collision occurred.
