Man on bike fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in Mesa

MESA, AZ – A bicyclist crossing an intersection was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Mesa last week, according to CBS 5 News.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Brown Road and Country Club Drive, just after 12 a.m. Tuesday.

50-year-old Carlos Cortez Hernandez was crossing the street with his bicycle when he was struck by a driver who then fled the scene.

Cortez Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have since located the suspect vehicle, though there is no information available regarding the driver.
