SALT RIVER, AZ – One person is dead following a wrong-way accident on State Route 87 in Salt River, located north of Mesa, late last night, according to CBS 5 News.
The accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on SR-87 near McDowell Road and Oak Street after two vehicles collided, with one of them traveling in the wrong direction.
Two people were pulled from the wreckage, with one of those victims taken to the hospital. There, they were later pronounced dead.
The second victim did not require transport to the hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident at this time.
