1 dead, 1 injured after driver runs red light at 91st Ave and Thomas Rd

PHOENIX, AZ – One person was killed and another was sent to the hospital when a driver reportedly ran a red light at an intersection in west Phoenix early yesterday morning.

According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the crash happened at N 91st Avenue and W Thomas Road at around 3:30 a.m., when the driver of a westbound Nissan 350Z reportedly ran a red light. The vehicle then collided with a southbound van.

47-year-old Rogelio Hernandez-Ramos, the driver of the van, died at the scene.

The at-fault driver sustained undisclosed injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation at this time, and it is unclear if speeding or intoxication may have played a role.
