Narrative

WEST PHOENIX, AZ – A man was injured, and a 41-year-old woman died after they were walking in the area of North 51st Avenue & West Glenrosa Avenue and were hit by a driver. This collision occurred before 5 a.m. Tuesday. Police speculated that the southbound driver swerved to avoid hitting something when the motorist struck the man and woman trying to cross 51st Avenue. The woman, who was identified as Tyretta Yazzie, 41, was taken to a hospital, where she later succumbed to fatal injuries. The unidentified male pedestrian sustained minor injuries. Officials are learning more about this crash and have not provided additional details at this time.
