Bicyclist struck, killed by hit-and-run driver at McDowell Rd and 34th St

PHOENIX, AZ – A bicyclist was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver at an intersection in northeast Phoenix late Thursday night, according to information from FOX 10 Phoenix.

The crash happened at McDowell Road and 34th Street at around 10 p.m., as 53-year-old bicyclist Jeffrey Ray was crossing the intersection. He was then struck by a driver who fled the scene.

Ray was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police later identified the driver as 18-year-old Javon Holston. Holston was taken into police custody and is facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash.
