Narrative
PHOENIX, AZ – A man and a woman died Sunday morning in a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in northwest Phoenix.
Around 6 a.m., emergency teams responded to an injury crash at North 57th Avenue and West Indian School Road, which is just east of Grand Canyon University and west of Walmart Supercenter.
Police say that one of the drivers was speeding when their vehicle struck another vehicle. Both an SUV and a Jeep are depicted in photos taken at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck, identified as 44-year-old Phyllis Wauneka, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Medics transported two additional adults to an area hospital. One of the patients, later identified as 37-year-old Antonio Wauneka, died after transport.
A full investigation is underway.
