PHOENIX, AZ – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Southern Avenue Saturday involving a hit-and-run driver who may have been under the influence, according to information from FOX 10 Phoenix.

The crash happened near the intersection of Southern Avenue and 18th Street at around 3 p.m., when a sedan and a motorcycle collided. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the roof of the car.

The driver only stopped for a short time before continuing on while the motorcyclist, identified as 48-year-old Robert Moore, was still on top of his vehicle. He then crashed into two other vehicles.

Moore fell off the vehicle at some point, and was then taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Witnesses followed the other driver, identified as 29-year-old David Moreno, and helped police locate him after the collisions.

Moreno allegedly showed signs of being under the influence, and was taken into police custody. He was later taken into the Maricopa County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
