Pedestrian dead after being struck by hit-and-run driver in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A woman was fatally struck by the driver of an SUV late Sunday night in Phoenix, close to the site of another fatal pedestrian accident last week.

According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the crash happened near the intersection of Indian School Road and 21st Avenue at around 10:30 p.m., as 42-year-old Lukina Yazzie was walking across the roadway.

She was then struck by the driver of a tan Chevrolet Tahoe who fled the site of the crash.

Yazzie died at the scene.

The driver then abandoned the vehicle near 24th Street and Thomas Road.

Authorities continue to search for the suspect and are asking those with any information on the crash to contact police at 602-262-6151.
