Narrative

PHOENIX, AZ – A 71-year-old woman died Wednesday after an 18-wheeler struck her along a busy roadway in central Phoenix.

The accident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. in the area of South 63rd Avenue and West Buckeye Road. This is just west of AZ-202 and north of Western Valley Middle School.

Police say the woman was walking along West Buckeye Road with a shopping cart when the semi hit her. Authorities identified the victim as Biyan Wu.

The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt in the accident. He stopped to render and and to speak with police.

A full investigation is underway.
