Woman killed by hit-and-run driver who abandoned truck nearby

PHOENIX, AZ – A woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in a crash in northwest Phoenix this weekend, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

The crash happened near the intersection of Palm Lane and 59th Avenue at about 3 p.m. Saturday, when the driver of a box truck collided with a pedestrian. The driver then fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle nearby.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Jeannie Garza Montoya, died at the scene.

Authorities discovered the vacant vehicle but have not yet apprehended the suspect.

Their investigation continues at this time.
