1 bicyclist dead, another injured after being struck by driver in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – An elderly bicyclist was killed and another was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Scottsdale last week, according to KPHO.

The accident happened on Legacy Boulevard, near 98th Street, at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, when a woman failed to maintain a single lane. She collided with two bicyclists, both in their 70s.

One of the victims succumbed to her injuries after being taken to the hospital. The second victim was taken in for the treatment of non-critical wounds.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash and is not thought to have been speeding or under the influence.

The identities of the victims and the driver were not immediately released.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
