4 people injured after wrong-way driver runs red light in Tempe

TEMPE, AZ – Two people were hospitalized and another two were injured following a wrong-way driver who allegedly ran a red light in Tempe early Saturday morning, according to ABC 15 News.

The crash occurred near the intersection of westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain and Priest Drive at about 2:30 a.m., as the driver of a black Toyota Tundra was headed the wrong way, against the flow of traffic.

The driver allegedly entered the intersection when they had a red light, and then crashed into two other vehicles driving through.

The wrong-way driver and their passenger were taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

The other two drivers sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Authorities believe the wrong-way driver may have been under the influence at the time of the crash. Their investigation continues at this time.
