Narrative

TEMPE, AZ – A 24-year-old woman was walking along I-10 East amid a construction zone and was hit by three vehicles, leading her to succumb to fatal wounds Monday.

This collision occurred before 6:30 a.m. near 40th Street East. The Arizona Department of Public Safety indicated that at least one of the drivers who struck the pedestrian had fled the scene.

DPS started an investigation and deemed it a hit-and-run. They identified the victim as Alejandra Lopez (who was not a construction worker) and said they were uncertain of her place of residency.

Officials believe Lopez may have been impaired when she walked in the construction zone.
