20-year-old pedestrian hit, killed by driver on W Valencia Rd in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ – A 20-year-old man crossing Valencia Road died this weekend after being struck by a pickup truck, according to information from KGUN9.

The crash happened at around 8 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of W Valencia Road, near S 12th Avenue, as 20-year-old pedestrian Thomas James West was attempting to cross the street.

He was then struck by the driver of a red 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck headed westbound.

West was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and is not thought to have been under the influence when the crash occurred. They have not been charged with a crime.

Police stated that West was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when the collision happened.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
