Alleged drunk driver kills pedestrian in crash in Tucson

TUSCON, AZ – KGUN9 News reports that a pedestrian was killed after being struck by an alleged intoxicated river in Tucson on Sunday.

Authorities say the crash took place just after 8:00 p.m. on the 7100 block of East Tanque Verde Road. The pedestrian, 51-year-old Sierra Deborah Waters, was crossing the road when she was hit by a driver in a 2002 Toyota Prius.

Waters sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she later died. The driver of the Prius remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It was later discovered that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

Police continue to investigate this incident.
