Alleged shoplifter fatally hit by car while fleeing business in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ – A man who was fleeing after an alleged shoplifting incident was fatally hit by a driver in Tucson on Saturday night, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Wilmot Road at about 9 p.m.

32-year-old Nicholas James Hernandez had allegedly stolen from a business near the scene, and then ran across the street while fleeing. He was then hit by a passing driver.

Hernandez was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and is not thought to have been under the influence. No charges have been filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
