Narrative

TUCSON, AZ – A 65-year-old man died from his injuries two days after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver near the Tucson International Airport on Sunday, November 5th. This collision happened before 10 p.m. at the South 12th Avenue & West Valencia Road intersection. Police said the victim — Michael Mena — was walking with another pedestrian (who appeared to have been unharmed) when he was hit. Tucson Police revealed that a midblock crossing was a hindrance and a contributing factor in this fatal wreck. A short time later, they located the suspect — 18-year-old Jesus Enrique Camacho Cesena — at a park. They said he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, although they did confirm he drove with a suspended license. They arrested him on suspicion of felony hit and run that resulted in a serious injury or death.
