TUCSON, AZ – A pedestrian was fatally struck by the driver of a pickup truck on Campbell Avenue yesterday evening, according to the Arizona Daily Star.
The crash happened in midtown Tucson near the intersection of E Waverly Street and N Campbell Ave at about 9 p.m., as a man in his 60s was crossing the street. He was then struck by the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado headed southbound.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene.
The driver, a man in his 20s, is not thought to have been intoxicated, and has reportedly cooperated with the investigation.
Authorities believe that the pedestrian was likely crossing outside of a crosswalk when the crash occurred. The driver may also have been traveling at an excessive speed. Their investigation, however, continues at this time.
