Worker killed after being struck by rail tamper SE of Tucson

VAIL, AZ (PIMA COUNTY) – A worker with Union Pacific was killed in a train accident that occurred southeast of Tucson this weekend, according to Tucson.com.

The collision happened in Vail, which is located about 22 miles southeast of Tucson, on Sunday, when victim James Morgan was working on engineering issues.

He was struck by a rail tamper, which is a machine that tamps down the rock beneath a set of tracks, providing a support for the rails.

The accident is under the investigation of the National Transportation Safety Board.
