1 dead, 4 injured after driver runs red light and smashes into group on bikes

FLAGSTAFF, AZ – A driver is facing charges after he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a group of bicyclists, leading to the death of a woman in Flagstaff on Friday night, according to CBS 5 News.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Beaver Street and Butler Avenue at about 7 p.m., when 58-year-old Flagstaff resident Normand Cloutier allegedly ran a red light.

His vehicle, which was also hauling a moving truck, crashed into a group of six people riding their bikes.

One of those people, 29-year-old Flagstaff woman Joanna Wheaton, died at the scene.

Four other people were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Cloutier is facing a charge of a moving violation leading to death.
