3 dead after train crashes into 2 vehicles in Golden Valley

GOLDEN VALLEY, AZ (MOHAVE COUNTY) – Three people were killed after a train crashed into their vehicles in Mohave County this weekend, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

The accident occurred on I-40, near milepost 528.6 in Golden Valley, at about 2:42 p.m. Sunday.

The driver of a Jeep, Kingman resident Larry Whatley, 72, and another driver went over the railroad crossing without realizing that a train was approaching.

The train struck the Jeep and the truck, leading to Whatley’s death and the deaths of the two occupants of the truck, 49-year-old Virginia Voyles and 54-year-old Wesley Hoagland, both of Golden Valley.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
