Pilot hurt after small plane makes emergency landing in Avra Valley field

AVRA VALLEY, AZ (PIMA COUNTY) – A pilot of a small plane was injured after the craft made an emergency landing in the Avra Valley area this weekend, according to CBS 5.

The accident happened about 25 miles northwest of Tucson, near Trico Road and Hardin Road, at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, when a single-propeller plane leaving Chandler lost power. The pilot made an emergency landing in a field, and the craft overturned.

The pilot was able to extricate himself from the craft and was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
