GLOBE, AZ – A truck driver was injured following a rollover accident that resulted in hazmat teams being called to the scene on Highway 60 near Globe on Sunday, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS).
The crash happened on eastbound U.S. 60, near Globe, when a truck hauling a gasoline tanker went over an embankment and fell about 75 feet. The vehicle came to rest on its side in a ditch.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries in the crash. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
A small amount of fuel leaked onto the roadway. About 7,500 gallons of fuel had to be removed from the tanker by hazmat crews before the vehicle could be turned upright. The crews used a ladder to reach the vehicle, then drilled holes in the tanker and moved the fuel to another tanker on the roadway.
