Narrative

LA PAZ CO., AZ – Two men died Wednesday following a two-vehicle collision along the highway near Bouse.

The incident happened before noon about two hours west of Phoenix on AZ-72.

Police say that a van rear-ended and 18-wheeler along AZ-72 when the latter vehicle slowed to make a turn. The collision caused the van to catch fire, entrapping the occupants.

The two 21-year-old men in the van, Christopher Stevens and Jonathan Hernandez, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Motorists likely experienced delays along AZ-72 in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
