Man critically injured in north Phoenix pedestrian accident

PHOENIX, AZ – A pedestrian was left with severe injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in the North Mountain area on Monday morning, according to KPHO.

The crash occurred at the intersection of W Sweetwater Ave and N 19th Avenue at about 7 a.m., as a 61-year-old man walked onto the curb. He was then struck by the 56-year-old driver of a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor.

The victim was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

The driver, who stayed at the scene after the accident, was not reported as injured. He is not thought to have been under the influence at the time of the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision at this time.
