Two elderly people killed when Tesla crashes into tree in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – An elderly man and woman were killed after their vehicle collided with a tree at a reportedly high rate of speed in Phoenix last week.

According to KPHO, the crash happened near Bell Road and 56th Street at about 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon, as 83-year-old Henry Deihl, operating a white Tesla sedan, was reportedly speeding.

He lost control of the vehicle, then crashed into a tree.

Deihl and his passenger, Diane Deihl, 81, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tesla was seriously damaged during the crash, with photos of the accident showing the right side of the vehicle having been ripped off the main body.

Authorities closed 56th Street for a few hours for the investigation and cleanup of the accident.
