Worker killed, 1 injured after box truck crashes into USPS vehicle in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A worker with the United States Postal Service was killed after the driver of a box truck struck a USPS vehicle in a collision in Phoenix on Tuesday night that also left the truck driver with serious injuries.

According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the crash occurred on 52nd Street and McDowell Road at around 6:18 p.m., when the 35-year-old of a box truck crashed into the back of a USPS vehicle that was pulled over to the side of the roadway. The USPS vehicle then burst into flames.

59-year-old Michael Blanton, the USPS worker, died at the scene.

The driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital for the treatment of severe injuries.

Authorities do not believe that either driver was under the influence when the crash occurred.
