MCSO officer directing traffic fatally hit by driver in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – An officer with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office was fatally hit by a driver as he was directing traffic in Scottsdale on Wednesday morning, according to ABC 15 News.

The crash happened at the intersection of McDowell Road and 87th Street as Lt. Chad Brackman, a 22-year veteran of the department, was directing traffic off-duty. He was then struck by a driver.

Brackman was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver was also hospitalized in undisclosed condition.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
