ASU motorcycle officer killed in accident while on the way to work

TEMPE, AZ – A police officer at Arizona State University was killed in a crash that occurred while he was on the way to work this morning, according to 12 News.

The collision occurred on the Loop 101 highway, near University Drive, at about 8:30 a.m., when 54-year-old Joseph Montgomery crashed his vehicle, possibly by colliding with a wall.

He was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Montgomery was a 13-year veteran of the ASU Police Department.

The collision remains under investigation at this time.
