TEMPE, AZ – A woman waiting at a bus stop in Tempe was struck and killed by the driver of a pickup truck last week, according to CBS 5 News.
The crash happened near the intersection of Rural Road and Warner Road at around 5:30 a.m. Friday, when the driver of a southbound pickup truck, 78-year-old Leroy Jones, lost control of his vehicle. He then swerved into the northbound traffic lanes and into a nearby bus stop.
There, he crashed into 59-year-old Alice Myskowski, who was sitting at the stop. She was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, and have not yet determined if speed or intoxication led Jones to lose control of his vehicle.
The driver stopped a short distance away from the crash.
