Driver dead, 2 teen boys injured in Avondale crash that split pickup into pieces

AVONDALE, AZ – A person was killed, and two teen boys were severely injured during a collision in Avondale on Wednesday afternoon, according to CBS 5 News.

The crash happened on Broadway Road and Avondale Boulevard at 12:15 p.m., when a silver pickup truck and a sedan collided.

The sedan then crashed into a brick wall. The pickup was split in two, causing the cab to overturn and crash about 60 feet away from the rest of the vehicle.

The 33-year-old driver of the pickup died as a result of the crash.

The 17-year-old driver of the sedan and his 17-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash at this time.
