Father arrested after causing rollover crash in Buckeye that killed 1 child

BUCKEYE, AZ – A father was arrested after causing a rollover crash on Sept. 11 that killed one of his children and injured others on SR 85.

According to AZFamily, the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 11. Six children were inside the vehicle when it rolled.

Four children were thrown from the car, and one of them died. Christopher Alonzo, 35, was driving and his wife was in the passenger seat. No other vehicles were involved.

The children told officials that Alonzo and his wife were both drinking that day and hitting each other while in the car. Police arrested Alonzo on Sept. 12 and faces charges including five counts of aggravated assault with serious physical injury.

Police are still investigating.
