FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ – A woman riding her bike was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Fountain Hills on Tuesday morning, according to CBS 5 News.
The collision happened on Fountain Hills Boulevard and McDowell Mountain Road between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., as 57-year-old Debra Ceschin was riding her bike. She was by the driver of a white pickup truck who then fled the scene after getting out of the truck to look at the damage to the vehicle.
Ceschin was found dead at the scene.
27-year-old Gage Grimes, who said he hit a tree a few weeks ago, has been charged in connection with the accident. Witnesses claim that he had been driving in an erratic manner in the days leading up to the fatal accident.
Grimes, who admitted to using drugs only minutes before being taken into police custody, is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
